What makes the Wyoming Cow Camp Clinic different from all the other clinics?

It has been my experience as a queen and as a judge that there are many wonderful representatives of rodeo that don't come from a ranching background.  These girls need this experience so they can talk the talk and walk the walk with the competition who truly do come from this lifestyle.  After leaving the Wyoming Cow Camp Clinic  girls will be able to:

  • Relate to the rodeo contestants more.
  • Work safely and efficiently around livestock.
  • Appeal to their judges on a level deeper than queening.
  • Be able to comfortably use terms when referring to cattle, like "mothering up".
  • Have a deeper appreciation for the agricultural industry.
  • Understand the business behind beef cattle and how the industry is changing.
  • Be able to better handle situations that may arise in the arena.
  • Cow-sense, cow-sense, cow-sense!
  • Recognize equipment used around cattle, like a "balling gun".
  • Flank, tie and handle calves.

Questions will be answered!  For example:

What is the gestation period of a cow?
How many stomaches do cows have?
How EXACTLY does a barrier work?
What are the differences between calf ropes, team ropes etc.?
Do cowboys have to swing the rope differently depending on what they are trying to catch?

...and more!  See you in Wyoming this summer!
